Bernie Williams Shy Of Hall Of Fame Votes

bernie-williams-51

As expected, Bernie Williams was not elected to the Hall of Fame.  Bernie received 55 votes and appeared on 9.6 percent of ballots cast by members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.  Unfortunately, it’s necessary to capture 75% of the vote for induction. Only Barry Larkin of the Cincinnati Reds was elected this time around, but Don Mattingly received 102 votes, or 17.8 percent, so it’s not all doom and gloom – Mattingly got much less last time.

Maybe the veterans committee with vote Bernie in some day in the future, but I don’t see the BWAA voting him in.

Bernie Williams Eligible For Hall Of Fame!

If you haven’t already heard, Bernie Williams is now eligible for hall of fame!  I’m not sure Bernie meets whatever odd standards the HoF uses, but then, I’ve never been a big fan of the HoF anyway.  (No Roger Maris?  Really, HoF?  Really?)  Still, it’s neat to think about!

Here is the complete list of everyone who is eligible this year:
Jeromy Burnitz
Vinny Castilla
Brian Jordan
Javy Lopez
Bill Mueller
Terry Mulholland
Phil Nevin
Brad Radke
Tim Salmon
Ruben Sierra
Bernie Williams
Tony Womack
Eric Young
