Bernie Williams Shy Of Hall Of Fame Votes

As expected, Bernie Williams was not elected to the Hall of Fame.  Bernie received 55 votes and appeared on 9.6 percent of ballots cast by members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.  Unfortunately, it’s necessary to capture 75% of the vote for induction. Only Barry Larkin of the Cincinnati Reds was elected this time around, but Don Mattingly received 102 votes, or 17.8 percent, so it’s not all doom and gloom – Mattingly got much less last time.

Maybe the veterans committee with vote Bernie in some day in the future, but I don’t see the BWAA voting him in.

Experts Don’t Expect Bernie Williams To Make The Hall of Fame

Just a quick link dump concerning Bernie’s chances to make the Hall:

RiverAveBlues.com:  Bernie Williams and the Hall of Fame

Fangraphs.com:  Bernie Williams, Post Season and the Hall of Fame

I also don’t expect Bernie Williams to make the Hall, but then, like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t put much stock in baseball’s immortal resting place because of the glaring omissions.   (COUGH – Roger Maris! – COUGH)

Whatever.  Bernie Williams is an immortal Yankee; that’s all I care about.
